GUEST BLOG: Inspiration for Extraordinary Women in History by Leah Gail Plus Giveaway!

Throughout my life I have always admired other women who have been changing the world with their brilliant, curious minds; and courageous, passionate hearts.

From a young age, I have always admired the likes of Mother Teresa, Florence Nightingale, Jane Austen, Anne Frank to name a few, who have all inspired me by their courage, tenacity, dedication, and unwavering resolve to make a difference in big and small ways.

Having worked within a very male environment for 25 years and having to find my voice as a woman gave me the idea about researching into women that were lesser-known and never made our history books. Starting out with over 120 women from around the world I finally got down to 70, not an easy task might I add as there are so many incredible women to scream and shout about.

I wanted the book to be accessible to readers of all ages, from all different backgrounds which is why I made sure I was not only writing about women from the last century but also going as far back as the middle ages from all around the world.

There are a few well-known figures talked about in my book but also lesser known figures like Gudrid Thorbjarnardóttir was not only the most travelled woman of the middle ages but also preceded Christopher Columbus by almost five hundred years to North America.

This book showcases and pays homage to trailblazers and will encourage everyone from all walks of life to dream big, never give up, and believe that barriers aren’t there to stop progress but are meant to be broken.
