But readers do know this, if it’s happening at the Spencer Inn, you know it’s an event to die for!
It’s been five years since the last Diablo Ball. When retired homicide detective Mac Faraday takes a look into a cold case involving a woman who disappeared days after the last ball, he realizes this year’s event is bringing everyone back together.
In Open Season for Murder, author Lauren Carr delivers the 10th installment in the Mac Faraday Mystery series. While the books can be read as stand-alones, my recommendation is to read in sequence in order to appreciate the characters and their growth throughout the series.
The helpful character guide at the beginning provides readers with a good introduction to both old and new characters. With the core group returning, along with Gnarly, this installment not only features an intriguing mystery, but it finally includes a special proposal.
Finding out what happened to Ashley Piedmont is high on Mac’s list, but there are more pressing issues that need his attention in this action-packed story. Complete with the usual laughs typically caused by Gnarly, this is yet another successful adventure.
Open Season for Murder adds another chapter for Mac Faraday, complete with twists and turns leading to a satisfying conclusion.
